Mack excels on the field and in the classroom

Allison Mack (New Oxford) had a strong freshman campaign for Binghamton University on the soccer field. She started in 14 of the Bearcats 18 games and tallied two assists.

Binghamton finished the season 8-8-2 and fell to Maine in the America East quarterfinals.

More impressive than the midfielder's job on the soccer field was her job in the classroom. Mack was named to the fall 2013 Athletic Director's Honor Roll after finishing her first semester with a 3.30 or higher.

Brady soaring to new heights

Kevin Brady (Delone Catholic) has started off strong this spring. The senior from Elizabethtown set a personal-best in the pole vault in an early season meet.

Brady vaulted to a height of 4.55m (14'11") at the Millersville Metrics. Brady beat his previous best of 4.50m (14'9") improving his third-place mark on Elizabethtown's all-time list.

Smith earns weekly honor

Bucknell's Brett Smith was named Patriot League Player of the Week for the week of March 24-31.

The freshman went a team-best 8-for-12 at the plate (.667) as the Bison's leadoff hitter in a three-game sweep of Navy. In Saturday's doubleheader with Navy, Smith went 5-for-5 and he had three more hits in Monday's doubleheader.

On the season, Smith is hitting .321 with a team-high 17 runs scored.

Mummert starts to heat up

Louisburg Community College freshman Logan Mummert has started to heat up.

Mummert (Littlestown) went 5-for-9 last week with a double, triple, three runs and three RBI's as the Hurricanes went 4-3 last week and are 20-14 overall.

On the season, Mummert bumped his average up to .341 with 15 hits and 10 RBI.

"I have been getting a lot of playing time and am starting to adjust to this level of pitching," Mummert said. "In high school pitchers have one, maybe two strong pitches if they are really good. At the college level, these guys have three strong pitches, so it has been an adjustment."
