Introducing the YAIAA first-team all-stars for the 2016 season.
ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Ravaughn Dillard, Gettysburg, jr.
Dillard won the state Class AAA triple jump title for the second year in a row, winning with a school-record leap of 148 feet, 7 inches on his final attempt. He also won district and league titles in that event and won YAIAA crowns in the long jump and high jump.
FIRST-TEAM ALL-STARS
Justin Atwood, Dallastown, so.
Atwood won the YAIAA 110 hurdles title with a time of 14.85 seconds. He also ran the second leg of the Wildcats' 400 relay, which won YAIAA and District 3 titles and placed third at the Class AAA state championships.
Brandon Falkenstein, Central York, sr.
Falkenstein won the YAIAA 300 hurdles title with a time of 40.14 seconds. He won a seventh-place medal in that event at the District 3 championships.
Trevor Grim, Bermudian Springs, jr.
Grim became the first Eagle to qualify for the Class AAA state championships, doing so in the 300 hurdles and 110 hurdles. He ran the 300 hurdles in 40.29 seconds and the 110 hurdles in 13.04 at the District 3 championships.
Luke Hoffman, West York, jr.
Hoffman won the YAIAA discus throw title with a season-best throw of 164-9. He went on to earn a fourth-place medal in that event at the District 3 championships and place 11th at the Class AAA state championships.
Jackson Hornbrook, Littlestown, sr.
Hornbrook won the YAIAA 400 dash title with a time of 49.98 seconds. He won a fourth-place medal in that event at the District 3 championships and qualified for the Class AAA state championships.
Ben Hurda, Biglerville, sr.
Hurda won YAIAA and District 3 championships in the javelin throw and earned a fifth-place medal at the Class AA state championships. His best throw of the season was 186 feet.
Patrick Jacobson, Dallastown, jr.
Jacobson won the YAIAA 1,600 run title with a time of 4:31.55. He earned a fifth-place medal at the District 3 championships and qualified for the Class AAA state championships.
Greg Potter, Red Lion, jr.
Potter won YAIAA pole vault title by clearing 15 feet. He won the District 3 title and earned a sixth-place medal at the Class AAA state championships. He also placed second at the Penn Relays.
Bry'quan Sweeney, York County Tech, sr.
Sweeney was the runner-up in the 100 dash at both the YAIAA and District 3 championship meets. His time of 11.12 seconds at the district meet earned him a spot at the Class AAA state championships.
Justin Tracy, Dallastown, sr.
Tracy ran the first leg of the Wildcats' 400 relay team, which placed third at the Class AAA state championships and set a school record of 42.27 seconds. He was also the YAIAA runner-up and earned a District 3 eighth-place medal in the 400 dash.
Bodhi Wilson, York Suburban, so.
Wilson cleared six feet in the high jump to win the District 3 Class AAA title and qualify for the state championships. He also placed eighth in the YAIAA in the 400 dash.
Josh Zeroth, South Western, sr.
Zeroth won the YAIAA title in the shot put with a season-best heave of 51 feet. He also placed fourth in the league in the discus throw and earned an eighth-place medal in that event at the District 3 Class AAA championships.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Bradley Snell, York County Tech
Snell led the Spartans to a 5-1 dual meet record, good for the program's first share of the Division III title since 2011. He coached sprinter Bry'quan Sweeney, as well as girls' jumpers Kirstyn Evans and Lauren Corbitt, to berths to the PIAA Class AAA championships.
